Valentine's Day Confession

Dear Valentine's Day,
 Even though I have known you forever...
and, I used to think you were cute,
lately, I'm just not that into you.

{still love chocolate}

{adore flowers}

What's not to love about "LOVE"?

But, Valentine's Day?
I get a little ambivalent....
Forced holiday sentiments never sit right with me,
it feels too.... forced.
Martha, you are no help.  You make me feel bad about myself.
Every year, I intend to do the cute crafty thing with my kids...but I can't find the time, or energy...
(they want the Disney/Hello Kitty/Batman cards anyway!)

I'm also not that fond of the color red.
And, I try to avoid wearing dresses.
I'm more of a pants or "separates" girl...
But, if I had to pick a red dress,
I would pick this one!
And, that's where I have a change of "heart".

As you may already be aware, the red dress has become the national symbol for women and heart disease awareness.  I think this a great idea.  Heart disease is the leading cause of death in America. With February being American Heart Month, anything that reminds us (men and women) to take better care of our health, can only be a "good thing".
Right Martha?

  1. I love those that wear their heart on their sleeve. I saw a young boy buying a box of chocolates for his Mom at the store today, at least he told me they were for his mom. I love this holiday. It tickles my romantic side.

  2. Oh my goodness, I just adore the tulips and red cute, sooo Martha;) thanks love.

  3. For some reason, I am totally into Valentine's Day this year. I'm not sure why but I even bought red plastic heart plates at Target for breakfast this weekend. It could be a fluke - let's see if I really make pink pancakes and serve them on those heart plates...

  4. I have made my donation and I'm wearing my red dress pin. I have to say- I love this holiday! Yes-it's a silly one, but I love the sentiments. Buy a bag of conversation hearts, put them in a pretty dish and call it good. Treat yourself to a little something special.
    I love your dialogue.

  5. OMG! Love the red hots and the tulips - they look AMAZING together. Happy Valentine's day!

  6. Oh, I love Valentine's Day. I love the red colors, though I do not wear red too often, either. Now, what gets bad is when you feel like Christmas is forced. Fortunately, that passed. Life. What the heck do you do with it, but merely the best you can ~ Have a lovely day ~ xox Alexandra
