Inside Out

Don't you love seeing
traditionally interior elements
unexpectedly utilized outdoors?

And...
vice~versa!

Me too!

That bed made from aspen trees is so great! If only I had a mountain retreat!

Haute World said...

Oh I love the contrast! Especially the bed tree and the bench in the last photo! I've also always admired the homes that somehow managed to have an entire tree in the living room or a waterfall.

When I design our outdoor space in the new house-those first few photos are going to be my inspiration :)

I'm really drawn to the organic and natural furnishings that bring the outdoors in. The aspen bed is divine, and I've wanted a twig bed forever. I guess the heat around here is making the insides more exciting than the outsides for me.

Love those gold poufs! Yes, I like seeing inside outside...it equates to happiness in our home! My favorite outside inside room was in South Africa when we went on safari to Sabi Sabi. Great images, as always!

I am a big fan of the indoors-out. I should have photographed my friend's cottage porch. She has mirrors, lamps, carpets, ceramics, candles. Its the best camp out ever.

Stephanie said...

Love these! I saved 5 of them to my "inspiration" folder. Whenever I see an outdoor room, I wish I lived in a less rainy area so I could incorporate some of these ideas. Oh well - next house maybe?

Yes, that last outdoor table is so pretty. Can it really stand the weather, or are there big mover men standing by to take it back inside soon?

We're fortunate to live in LA, so we blurr the outdoor/indoor line a lot.
I love creating garden rooms indoors and great outdoor living rooms. The latest outdoor rugs are great. Love that turquoise one in your image.
I'm also drooling over that Elle Decor tree bed. So cool.
