One of the first things I tend to notice
in any interior is the artwork.

    I agree! I tend to gravitate towards local or "unknown" artists...BTW I am LOVING those bar stools in that kitchen!

  4. I don't have a "favorite" but I love artwork and enjoy looking at it...truly one of life's greatest pleasures! Just wish I owned more!!!

  14. Sigh. Damian Hirst. Though I wouldn't put the cut up cow in my house, lol! Also like William Quigley, do you know him? He's a NY artist, I used to party with him and his crew some back in the day lol (can't do that kind of partying for very long, you know?!). Also Todd Murphy, an artist originally from Atlanta, very cool. Fab post, Sue! XX!

  16. I think art is in the eye of the beholder so any artist that catches my eye is one I would look into. Penny Putnam and Charon are two of my favorites!

  18. I like to purchase art from local artists. There is a photographer in my area that has some beautiful work. I'm smitten with an enormous closeup shot of a dahlia against a blue sky.

  19. I LOVE them all, and I think art makes or breaks a room... I especially love the Helen Frankenthaler piece... Btw, I am considering doing a giveaway of one of my paintings, just as a way to say thank you to my readers etc... Would u want to host it?

  29. I love to look at other peoples art work- I am quite shameless in asking too many questions-

    I could talk for HOURS about my own art as well-Where I got it, who the artist is HOW IT MAKES ME FEEL-

    I am pining for a pieces by Erin Currie and Michael Lazurus.

    There is another artist that I LOVE and REALLY HOPE to get a work of his- but I'm working on a post---- SO I'll let you know soon!

  36. Matthew Heller's is a Bryan Adams song that was one of my faves growing up...I mean I AM Canadian, after all. It is so cool!!

    I love all of the pieces you featured. Would love to have a Warhol on my wall.

  40. Funny, I also have that first Elle Decor image saved in my magazine "favorites" file. And that crown--need that on my walls, pronto.

    As far as favorite artists, the fantastic Denise Fike tops my list.

  52. I'm totally with you on this one. If I had all the money in the world, I would definitely own multiple paintings of Jackson Pollack and Van Gogh and some new contemporary artists that I love now.
