Collecting Possibilities

I have always loved the idea of collections...despite the fact that I don't really have any of my own.  To passionately seek out and hunt for one particular item, whether it be cookie jars or postcards, paperweights or lunch boxes...there is something so aesthetically pleasing about a grouped collection of like items.  Needless to say, when I recently stumbled across the home of Stacy Weiss of Weisshouse, I was instantly enamored with all of it!
What about you? Any collectors out there?

I love the idea of collections. My sister-in-law has a fabulous one of Scottish lawn bowling balls - they're amazing.

Used to but after my house burnt to the ground I lost interest. I do like her bottles.

Right now all my pretties are collecting dust! I am in the middle of spring cleaning to eliminate that collection before I am considered a dust hoarder :) Loving the tick tocs above!

No collections for me, but I do appreciate how they look and how passionately people feel about them!

I have a collection of crosses in my family room (they are all hanging together on a small wall). I love having something to look for when you really don't need a single extra thing in your space! The other great thing about a collection is it gives friends something to focus on when getting you a gift, rather than attempting to decorate your house ;). Mandi

I go through phases and have probably gotten rid of more collections that I have. I like to keep it to a small manageable number. Love the look of those clocks.

yes, I'm a collector. started with pens (those you get everywhere with companies names) and metal boxes and know that I'm older with an income, I get to collect other interesting objects, like watches, mugs and my favorite ones: flower vases.

I collect owl items -- it's reaching creepy levels, so I think it's time for a new collection to develop.

I used to collect tons of things but as I age that bug has left the building. Sometimes it gets to be to much clutter and dusting and expense but I still own some of the things I used to actively collect.

I love old clock collections and old cameras. I've got a "new" old rolling pin collection and an ever-growing old shoe mold collection that I have yet to display :)

My collections are a bit of a problem, as they are furniture. I have a thing for chairs and dressers...I need to open up a store soon or my home is going to turn into a warehouse quickly! Fabulous images, especially like the first one!

I never thought of my self as a collector....but as I look around, I do see some trends. Hearts, angels, silver picture frames with my little boys in black and white and now, tulips. Hmmmmm....that collection seems to just be growing!

Great photos! I have a silly collection of Starbucks mugs from my travels like Paris, London, Scotland, Saudi Arabia etc...Certainly not a chic designer collection but definitely a fun kitchen one that makes for intersting conversations.

Didn't realized until I started blogging and writing about what I was buying that I have quite a few collections. I need someone to come and arrange them for me so they look pretty though.

I collect vintage linens, especially white tablecloths, napkins, pillowcases, and hand and kitchen towels. Storing and displaying them is a challenge. I also collect a pattern of vintage silverplate flatware that we enjoy using.

I think that our Heath pottery is a collection. We use the dinnerware regularly and have started displaying the serving plates and large bowls so we remember to use them.

Collecting. It has been a lifelong passion of mine, it becomes almost 2nd nature to look for things you love when you travel or roam around. I have 3 things I'm cannot get enough of, very old blue & white porcelain, Lalique, and cut glass from the brilliant period. Massing it all together is what makes it look important, I think. You post shows this very well, Sue. Love those African (?) bottles. xx's

What great inspiration images! Coincidentally, I had the same sentiment this week and blogged about it. I had a few collections as a child, but would love to start a new one and encourage my kids to start collections.

BTW - I only recently came across your blog, but love it!

*DYING* over that clock collection! I really wish I was a collector, but sadly I think the last collection I had was little shaped erasers in like the 3rd grade...not nearly as cool as these! (c:

I bet you collect something - without even knowing it! Orange, pretty boxes (or trays!)perhaps!

I collect hand made cups by an incredible designer in Sweden (a tomorrow's antique for sure). And I have to go to Sweden to get them!

Each and everyone of the cubby holes on my wall cabinet will be filled = 25.

I started collecting antique perfume bottles but as the collection grew, I realized that the amount of time I spent dusting them far outweighed the amount of time I spent admiring them...

I feel like I always read designers giving the advice to start a collection, which I've always found a little funny for some reason. However, I have inadverdently started a collection of little porcelein dogs (which makes me sound kind of crazy) and it's been fun!

I'm with you, I collect nothing. After this post, I clearly need to. I love the clock collections. So different and pretty grouped together. Thanks for the inspiration!
