I'm A Little Bit Country

Here in the northern suburbs of New York City, an area that both Martha Stewart and Ralph Lauren call home, it's hard not to be influenced by truly traditional American country style. When homes are designed as beautifully as this chic Northern Westchester restored antique, I'm ready to make like Gwyneth Paltrow, and start singing country's praises!  How about you, are you a little bit country too?

Very intrigued with the kitchen, with the fireplace and mirror above...and the floors in the entry. Great style with a well lived in worn feeling. Janell

There's country and then there's COUNTRY! I'd refer to this as more classic since I don't see any roosters or ducks sitting around. You can use a little for a more eclectic look or go full tilt modern country and have a beautiful and livable space. I kind of love it.

i'm def not country - out of all estetics 'country' is NOT me .. but i appreciate it for others ..

Love all the painted trimwork in each of those spaces. Refreshing to see something other than white!

The dining room needs "something" but the other spaces I'd be very happy with, especially those floors!

I love that the woodwork has been well-cared for, but updated with some paint. Beautiful images!

What I love most about these is the colour of all the trim and wood- so gorgeous. I'd kill for mouldings/detail like that.

I absolutely am, the modern country at least. How could you not feel relaxed in a space like that. I also like a space to fit the surroundings so that area sounds perfect for that look.

I like every pic...for different reasons. It's funny how many people cringe at the word "country"....I think of it in the English way...."country home"....or rural, simple, beautiful.....k

I live in the country but that's about it. I could easily decorate country if my rooms will be anything like these images.

Love the living room in the third photo, but I am definitely not a country girl.

Loving the soothing colors.

I love it...with the exception probably of the dining room. We grew up spending our summers on a lake in the NC mountains. Our neighbors included the CEO of Home Depot and a famous rocker. It was fun to see how my mom's decorating differed between our everyday home and the one they built on the lake. Antique pine floors, exposed beams, stone fireplaces, etc. I liked both....agree with someone above...there is country and then there is country....

I hope I am just this side of sophisticated country. Love the warmth of the rooms and the green in the one room is the green I painted my kitchen cupboards. I find these rooms to be classically country style in a verrrry good way,Kathysue

I grew up in the country so it will always be fond in my decor heart! Love these images - v. inspiring!

I love this kind of country - not the other kind. We always called that sort of decorating "country with a k" (you know like, Kountry, misspelled like you are on "Hee Haw") and I'm not judging having grown up in NC and living in Georgia. But I like refined country decorating not cariacture country decorating. Am I making sense to anyone but me - ha!

BTW - when I worked in NY I lived in Larchmont, so I was a Westchester girl for a while :o)

You bet your boots I do!! LOL......Love the rooms, all elegant but cozy and inviting all the same...thats what makes a "country" space different than a "city or town" space...the formality and level of how inviting the spaces are.....the country rooms say come on in and take a seat and let me cook up something good to eat...a vibe I crave more as I get older. Looooove that first room, the kitchen...just stunning and that last pic, the hallway and those killer floors...WOW!! And agreed that neck of the woods is dotted with tons of amazing country homes!

Like Kathy said, it's funny that some people cringe at the word country, but I absolutely love a little mixed in with modern. I love all these pics.
