Vanessa Bruno's Lovely Parisian Style

This fall, it seems that my fashion "wish list" is longer than ever.  At the very top, is a Vanessa Bruno sequin tote.  I've been coveting one of these quintessentially French bags for ages. Since my mind is already squarely focused on the relation of fashion to decor (and vice versa) I thought I would post these images of Vanessa Bruno's Parisian apartment here today.  A long time favorite of mine, ever since they first appeared in magazines several years ago, I love the soft lavender color scheme and the spare modern mix, set against the traditional backdrop of this classic apartment.  Which sort of brings me right back to those modern sequins on that traditional boat tote....hmmmm.

Fashion Inspired Decor

After devouring every fashion magazine on the news stands, in addition to the Bergdorf Goodman and Saks Fifth Avenue fall catalogs, I can honestly say that my focus has fully shifted over to fall fashion.  Apparently, it's even affecting what I'm currently coveting for my home as well.  Head over to Houzz to see my idea book on decor meets fashion, and let me know what you think!

Obsession Du Jour: Rene Gruau

This past weekend was spent holed up at home with a stack of fall fashion magazines.  While I adore the glossies, there are times when all the "over photo shopped" size zero young glamazons can get a bit tiresome.  Enter the world of fashion illustration, one that I find myself wishing would come back into vogue, literally.  One of my all time favorites in this field was RenĂ© Gruau, an Italian born, famous fashion illustrator in the 40's and 50's.  His work is a fabulous reminder of what this genre meant before the camera took over.

Don't Stop Thinking About Tomorrow

Well, we survived Hurricane Irene...but, boy was that scary!  We still don't have power, but thanks to Mr. Zhush's Macgyveresque skills, I have a bit of an internet"hot spot"now.  Over the past few days, I found myself humming Fleetwood Mac's "Don't Stop" several times, in an effort to calm myself down.  Of course, I can never think of Fleetwood Mac without also thinking of Lindsey Buckingham's talented wife, Kristen Buckingham.  A fabulous designer, Kristen also runs an equally fabulous shop in L.A..  I was daydreaming about California sunshine all weekend long, not to mention owning an actual brick and mortar shop even half as hip as Kristen's!

How Do You Zhush?

Here's how Erica of Moth Design, zhushes!  I'm obsessed with the way she took our gold wishbone, and framed it!  How genius is that?  But not surprising...have you seen Erica's closet?  She framed a bunch of shopping bags and hung them up as art!  Thanks for the fabulous ideas and inspiration Erica!  If you're not already familiar with Erica and her fab blog, check out Moth Design!
Send in your photos and show us how you zhush!

All A Glow

Have you seen this relatively new site, The Glow?  Started by editor Violet Gaynor and photog Kelly Stuart, these two fashion insiders explore the homes and family lives of some of the most stylish moms in the fashion industry.  If you like the voyeuristic peaks provided over at The Coveteur and The Selby, then check out The Glow, and see how these chic ladies live.

Beach Folly

I fell hard for this charming beach bungalow, designed by Amelia T. Handegan, and seen in last month's Architectural Digest.  Located in Folly Beach, South Carolina...the nerdy geek, English Major in me, can't resist the irony here.  One of the definitions for "folly" found in Webster's Dictionary is "a costly ornamental building with no practical purpose," hardly how I would describe this perfect beach retreat.  Quite the opposite, actually.

Pay Attention To Details

It's the little things, the small touches, that keep your beautiful home from looking like a beautiful hotel room.  The trim on a drapery panel, the fringe on a pillow, personal accessories in your home should reflect who you are.  Lauren Muse knows details well, she helped me with the design of my own home.  And, while this is not my house here, you can see more of Lauren's work (including my house) on her site.  Be sure to also check out Lauren's One Kings Lane sale, going on now, (there's also a small peak at my living room!)

Sneak Peak + Thank You!

This summer, I worked on improving the store.  In addition to finding a lot of great new items (which will be loaded on to the site soon) I also had a "look book" shot, as a way of allowing customers to visualize how pieces work together, see the scale and also as a source of inspiration.  I'm really thrilled with the photos (taken by Jacob Kriese) and styled by "The Decorista"Ashlina Kaposta...not to mention the fun we had the day these were shot.  Ashlina is not only talented, but a true joy to work with, she really "gets it".  Some of these photos have been featured on other blogs, which I'm more than thrilled about.  I'll be sure to let you know when it goes live.  Hope you like them!

I've had so much support from the blog world, it's truly amazing!  Thanks so much to these ladies who have given zhush such great buzz lately!  I really appreciate it!

Like Jeannie's Bottle

I grew up watching re-runs of I Dream Of Jeannie.  As a young child, I was obsessed with the idea of living in that swanky chic bottle.  So, when I saw these whimsical outdoor seating creations by Dedon, my jaw literally dropped!  These fun little "nestrests" can either hang and swing, or be placed firmly on the ground as shown above...either way,  I want one!
