My first apartment had all white walls. As did my second. Like most rentals, paint colors came at a fee and wallpaper was pretty much discouraged. Confined to our plain white box, I dreamed of owning a house of my own one day and covering every surface with paint and prints. Fast forward to today, and that's exactly what we did. So naturally, white walls are now calling my name! Apparently, I now adore this look. When done right with a little imagination and colorful pops of furniture and accessories, plain white rooms can look very warm and inviting. ReplyDeleteWe just redecorated most of our house with crisp white walls, glossy white trim and coloured ceilings. What a breath of fresh air after always having colour on the walls. I'll be good for about 5 years now until I want to redecorate again.

I've white-walled my whole life. Except, in the first two years after my divorce, when I painted one wall of that temporary apartment deep, deep red. Make of that what you will. I'm with you.

ReplyDeleteI do love white walls! We have a lot of white wood in the current house, so have the walls painted soft shades of blue and butter to make the woodwork pop, but I secretly wish for a clean white backdrop... Don't think my husband would agree though!
ReplyDeleteI have always had white semi-gloss walls in my houses. It is fresh, clean, light, bright and airy. The white allows colors of artwork, upholstery, flooring and accessories to pop. They are not competing for attention with the walls. I love the look day or night.

I live for white walls. With the exception of two rooms, I had my entire house painted white and I often think about doing those two rooms over too!
ReplyDeleteWhite walls are great when done right!! I tend to use creamy whites to soften the walls a bit, so then the pops of color are in my furniture and draperies and accessories!!

I can completely relate. I've painted numerous apartments at a high price. Now that I can paint whatever, what do I do, white of course! And black. ok, and a little navy blue, but mostly they're white, and I love them...finally!
