Don't get me wrong...I think Kelly Wearstler's work is amazing...
{but, I do miss the old cafe on the 5th Floor at Bergdorf's ...a lot}

It's just these canopied wing back chairs,
I literally can not wrap my head around them.

To me, they look a lot like these:
or, like something she would sit on...

love the old hair dryer image. good one!
ReplyDeleteI've got to admit that those chairs do take away from the gorgeous chinoiserie wallpaper and the fabulous molding in the cafe... and now the hairdryers will forever be stuck in my mind!
ReplyDelete- The Buzz -
yeah, i'm not sure about these, either.
ReplyDeletebut usually if i have to wrestle my mind around something, it's a no.
snap. snap.
The dryer comparison with these chairs is classic. I think I might like them though.
ReplyDeleteFunny, funny! Great analogy! Like them, but in a fun setting for a brief sit....as they don't seem at all comfortable.
ReplyDeleteLove the analogy. I think they are fun to look at......but they aren't on my "must have" list.
ReplyDeleteI like them. I wouldn't want them in my house, but i do like to look at them. Maybe that's because I remember Magnum P.I had one in his house, well actually it was in Higgins office in Robin Masters house and it was made of rattan, totally 80s, but that must be why I have a funny attraction to them. Oh goodness, the chairs, not Higgins. ☺ In fact, it looked a lot like the one Morticia Adams is sitting in , in your last pic! Let's see KW bring back the rattan one with success, huh!
ReplyDeleteDon't dig them. Though I do have the chair Ms. Adams is chilling in. In fact, I have two :)
ReplyDeleteMarija
I adore these wing back chairs! So french!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful pictures!
xx

I actually love these chairs.
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun blog! These chairs look like La Cage aux Folles. Horrible and anti social in terms of function, I would think. Jetsons meet Alice in Wonderland. More appropriate for Serendipity 3 than Bergdorf's...
ReplyDeleteI'm there with ya. I don't get them. I really try, but the first thing that came to my mind when I see them is exactly the Adams family. Not my style. This is such a fan post! I love it.
ReplyDeleteWouldn't want them in my home.... but I have to admit, they create a wonderful intimate ambiance in a lounge application. However... they may forever be ruined in my Calgary hot spot when all I can envision is my hair in rollers. :) xo
ReplyDeleteI love this chair... it's very old world... ;)
ReplyDeleteGreat design! But they do remind me of the Haunter Mansion ride in Disney World... I'd get over that though. I love the canopied look.
ReplyDeleteI'm really liking these !
ReplyDeleteI appreciate them although would never incorporate them into my home! x
ReplyDeleteI must admit, I really don't like them. I'm not against taking a risk in decor, but these seem like too much of a commitment!
ReplyDeleteAs soon I saw those chairs I thought of the café at Bergdorf’s and I have only been their once...I kind of like them! xx
ReplyDeleteThey look a little bit weird, you are right but i like them .
ReplyDeleteI can appreciate them but probably would not have them in my own home but I think we can all say that about a lot of design, It is all so subjective, Great post to make us think, I like that,Kathysue
ReplyDeleteHey Zhush! My vote is for friggin' good design! I love these, thank you for sharing. I am particularly dying over those blue ones at the top of coarse :-D
ReplyDeletexoxo Bardot in Blue
So with you on this! I have thought the same thing and it's gratifying to have someone else articulate it.
ReplyDeleteI'm with you - don't care for them much. I can't imagine they feel great to sit in for a long time. Maybe better suited for a statement in a hotel lobby.
