Fifteen years ago today, my husband proposed at
The Plaza hotel, in New York City.
Thinking about this iconic hotel,
and all the different owners and renovations
that have taken place, since the night we got engaged,
"old school New York City style"...
Here is a virtual peak at The Plaza today.
Having gone partially condo, fifteen years later,
The Plaza still looks pretty swank.
The model condominium units designed by Versaci Home,
still retain the glamor and glitz that I will
forever associate with this Hotel.
And, some things have remained exactly as I remember.
The Lobby.

The Oak Bar.
And, the Oak Room as well.
The adorable homage to Eloise is new,
and it seems the hotel's remaining rooms and suites
have all been spiffed up as well.
Not only did we get engaged at The Plaza,
but we spent our wedding night there as well.
One day, I know
we will return to this famous landmark.

I love your story! My husband and I got engaged at The Drake in Chicago, but after seeing these pictures, maybe someone should have encouraged him to pick The Plaza!
ReplyDeleteA few days late, but congratulations anyways! How romantic it must have been! Were you completely caught off guard? My husband proposed at a hotel as well! Perhaps a night at the plaza when you finally take off on that weekend getaway into the city? ;)
ReplyDeleteThe Plaza Hotel seems like home in NYC to me. Thank you for showing us all the new pics. It still retains all the old world charm in the public areas, and the newly decorated rooms are lovely. My girlfriends & I used to stay in adjoining rooms on the 12th floor overlooking the park, we would be there for days going to plays, cocktailing, dinnering. I wish I could tell you all the famous & wonderful people we met there. xx's
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful place to get engaged! Must have been a fairytale place to spend the wedding night! I want to go there soooo much!
