Sunday Style Obsession: Butter Makes It Better

Several weeks ago, I had a
weird rash around my eyes...
after visiting my Dermatologist,
it was diagnosed as contact dermatitis.

The culprit: my manicure.
An allergic reaction to all the toxins
contained in nail polish...i.e., formaldehyde, toluene
and phthalates.

I've now found a new brand that
is free of all of these harmful toxins...butter!

This eco friendly line has a huge array of
fun designer colors and quirky names
like "come to bed red" and "frilly knickers".
This fall, butter will be paying homage to
Alexander McQueen...

{all hail mcqueen, bumster, marrow, victorian}

I'm happy to report that my
weird rash has cleared.

Thanks for making me better, butter!

  1. Good heavens - so glad the rashed has cleared!
This is why I never colour my fingernails, but I do tend to get my toes done. Indeed, I do treat myself to a manicure, but a colour-free one - blame it on my upbringing;-)

  4. I love the colors they have, I've always said that it's stuff added that doesn't need to be in products that we use. I'm glad that you figured out what this issue was.

  12. I'm sending this on to my daughter, the spa queen. She tells me there is a new shellac-like polish which must be applied by a salon, stays on for 2-3 weeks, no chips, then must be removed at the salon. I love this Butter idea. xx's Sue

  14. I love Butter. I have 6 colors, and a kit, and I like them all. Sorry to hear about the rash, but you will do much better without the toxic chemicals (which were the reason I switched). Have a great Labor Day weekend.

  19. This is good to know. I'm a contact wearer too and just may need this info some day. Aren't allergies just the weirdest thing? I have been using this one meication for "centuries" and all of a sudden I have become exceedingly allergic to it!!!!

  20. interesting about your contact lens issue...I have been wanting to try this line but have yet to do so. Colors look great and it is supposed to be top of the line. More polishes are trying to get these evil ingredients out of their products. Have a great week!!

  33. This is a great public service announcement! I must admit to being very low key in the mani/pedi realm....ever since my toe was numb for 4 months after getting a pedicure, I have been wary of going to nail places! Glad your mystery rash was diagnosed and fixed.

  36. It is the BEST! And it is actually a Seattle company behind the line.

This past weekend my lovely friend Kendra came over w. her family from Portland to hang out. I had missed her birthday and had a little bag prepared. And among all things were of course -- Butter nail polish!

It stays on for a long time.

    Love to you my friend.

  38. isnt' that interesting that toxins in nail polish would present itself in your eyes? it reminds me of that seinfeld where jerry found that wierd rash cream in that girl's medicine cabinet he was dating, and it was a cream for her cat.... lol....
these colours are so cute, much cuter anyways than OPI.....
