Bath vs. Shower

Only two days until Christmas!  A house full of children home on winter break, guests expected tomorrow...this exhausted Mama is in desperate need of some "me" time in order to recharge.  These days, my go to fortress of solitude is a long steam filled shower.  However, I have many friends that swear by the restorative powers of a hot soak in the tub.  Despite installing a beautiful bathtub in our Master Bath, I confess, I have only used it just once.  While I find them absolutely lovely to look at, to me there is nothing appealing about a warm bath.  So which one are you?  Do you prefer to shower and steam or bubble and bathe?

Or, maybe you're a little bit of both!

{so clever!}

  3. I do love a good soak, but find that it's actually a rare occurance to take the time! If I could only pick one? Big shower with a bench seat and endless hot water!

    In the meantime...just sneak up to your bathroom...say your having a bath...light some candles, breathe deeply and have a cocktail!!!

    Merry Christmas!!!

  5. I'm a bath girl. We have lived in our house for almost six years and I can only think of three times that I have ever used our shower! Although your second picture could convince me - love the horizontal stone. Merry Christmas! M.

  10. Without a second of hesitation, a bath. I have one every night and I think I might die without it. The hot bath gives me at least 45 minutes of much needed solitude...adore!!

  12. I'm so glad I'm not the only one who feels this way!! I love the look of a luxurious tub but hands-down I'm all about a huge steam shower. Our last home had the most beautiful slipper tub and can you believe I didn't even use it once?? But it sure was pretty! :)

  13. I am madly in love with that first bathroom - so gorgeous!! I am definitely a shower girl but my husband loves baths!! In our old master bath we had a fabulous steam shower where you could add essential oils to the steam. It was really great!

  23. Such a good question! I have the same dilemma--a gorgeous tub that I barely use and an open shower that gets all the traffic. I do love having the tub though for those times when I really need a long hot soak!

    Wishing you a wonderful and happy Christmas!

  24. I want both, just like the Japanese do. Take a shower to clean the body then take a hot hot bath to relax it.

  37. I would never have my house without a tub because i always tell myself that i'm going to take long soaks. However, like you, i've only taken that long soak only once, so i guess i'm a shower kind of girl:-). I also wanted to wish you and the family a very Merry Christmas! I feel so lucky to have met you this year-you're a doll! XX
