Wayuu Taya

Today I'm feeling so inspired by the bright and bold color combinations of these endearing Wayuu Taya bags.  Founded in 2002, by former Chanel model Patricia Velásquez, Wayuu Taya is a non-profit organization that produces fashionable and unique accessories in support of Latin American communities. Each hand-woven bag is made using traditional tribal techniques and takes 20 days to construct, with the proceeds going towards education for the indigenous Wayúu women and children.  Don't you love it when "feel good" and fabulous combine in fashion?

Inbox Inspiration

Some days I scour the internet to come up with new and interesting things to post.  Other days great ideas seem to just fall into my lap, or in this case my inbox. When I first started writing The Zhush, I had no idea that I would get a barrage of press releases and hit up with new product pitches each week.  But, when the products are as beautiful and sophisticated as these lovely pieces from Bradley Hughes furniture, it just makes sharing the inspiration that much easier.

Join Me In Dreamland

I really love my sleep.  So, it's only natural that I love to talk about my bed and my bedding as well...I hope you'll join me over at the a' la mode blog, where I'm guest posting as part of Shelli's Tuesday Turn Down series! Sweet dreams!

House Of Hackney

While not my usual aesthetic, House of Hackney, a new east London based interiors company, has absolutely caught my eye.  Designed to break the rules of traditional English designs in order to appeal to a new generation, House of Hackney has been described as "Colefax and Fowler on acid." And, with wallpapers that depict sloths smoking hookahs and badgers drinking cocktails it's easy to see why.  What's your take on this cheeky approach to mad hatter style?

Just Beachy

Next week, I'm planning on meeting up with my college girlfriends in the Hamptons.  While I'm so looking forward to the change of scenery, right now, all three kids are done with school although not yet in camp. Things are quite "lively" around here to say the least. However,  I did manage to schedule some strategic play dates yesterday and slip away for a very much needed pedicure.  With a stack of magazines in hand, my short visit to the nail salon was incredibly relaxing.  Probably because I was admiring the beautiful Hamptons beach home of Katie Couric in Hamptons Cottages and Gardens, and reading about the wonderful job her talented landscape architect sister did on the grounds.  It provided such a great mini escape that I thought I would share it here today. Enjoy!

Obsession Du Jour: Luc Leestemaker

After reading all of the comments for last week's giveaway, I see that I'm like most of you, since I too prefer art for the home that is both meaningful and beautiful.  Whether it's abstract or representational, traditional or more really can transform a space. Today, I thought I would highlight the work of an artist I've admired for many years.  Luc Leestemaker, a Dutch artist, now residing in California, is known best for his abstract landscapes. These are just a small sample of his beautiful paintings. If you live in the Boston area and would like to see more of Luc's work in person, check out Galerie d'Orsay's current exhibition, running from now until July 25, 2011.  And, if you go, please let me know what you thought!  Otherwise, to see more, just click over here!

When More Is More

I'm a big fan of the expression "less is more," except, when it comes to Quadrille wallpapers and fabrics.  Then suddenly I feel like I can't get enough, and more just leads to wanting to see even more.  Perusing the company's website, I'm clearly not alone in this camp.  Whenever I tell my husband that I'm thinking about decking out the house in Quadrille patterns, he has no idea what I'm talking about...until now.
