I've talked about my master closet before (here and here) but now that's it's completely finished I thought I'd dedicate a full post to it. The after photo below, really helps to drive home the impact that paint alone can have.
Much like the decision to paint over the dark cabinets in our butler's pantry, I knew when I first came to look at this house, if we ended up purchasing it, I'd be having the whole thing painted bright white. With the help of Muse Interiors, I was able to transform this large yet dark closet into my ultimate dream closet. We ended up getting rid of the center island piece and then using just the taller part under one of the hanging spaces on the left side, giving me a small dresser area that I couldn't properly photograph on my own.
The floors were stained a deep dark walnut, the same as the rest of the house. The ceiling was wallpapered, the fabric on the window seat was swapped out and the hardware and light fixture were both changed as well. I went with simple plantation shutters on the windows and added a few throw pillows. The final touches were the gray area rug, which has a hint of metallic thread in it and the tufted velvet ottoman, which serves as a catchall when I'm getting dressed or packing.
After years of pinning beautiful closets, I'm beyond thrilled with the final outcome. The sources here are as follows:
-ceiling wallpaper: Brett Design Inc.
-bench fabric: Kelly Wearstler
-paint color: Benjamin Moore White Dove
-similar drawer hardware pulls
-similar flush mount light fixture
-throw pillow
-tufted ottoman

Gor-jus! I'm so jealous! I think it was smart to remove the middle island. Love the idea of a simple ottoman instead--good move.

ReplyDeleteNow YOUR closet will be pinned as a "dream closet" Sue! Divine! Having only a small walk in that I share with my husband, I have to say that this makes me giddy. I would be so thrilled to have a closet this spacious one day! (next house.... I hope!)
ReplyDeleteLove the touch of the little brass knobs, too!
