Having successfully climbed its way
out of the library,
the ladder makes such a chic style statement.
It takes any room's decor to the next level.

I love the ladders by the bookshelves! I would just pretend I needed a book so I could play on the ladder all day! Fun. I often wish I had a ladder in the kitchen, I have to drag a chair over to reach the high cabinets. xo
ReplyDeleteI'm torn, I would only want in my decor only if it was going to be used. However, in the rooms you have pictured they are lovely.
ReplyDeleteYes, to new heights! We have high ceilings and our kitchen cabinets are built to the ceiling. But we're lacking in the ladder department and I need one.
ReplyDeleteI love ladders, a library would be fabulous but is not in my reality, perhaps a kitchen ladder, I really would like my upboards to go to the ceiling & I am a shorty!!!
ReplyDeleteOh this is such a fab post..I cant get enough of ladders too...especially in a library..just adore that look. great examples too ;) x
ReplyDeleteThey're gorgeous! I decided against one for my studio room and chose an old step ladder instead - I hope i made the right decision!
ReplyDeleteStairways to heaven methinks!
ReplyDeleteFunny you should mention this! because we're seriously thinking of having a ladder like this in the lounge!
ReplyDeleteThose are really cute!
ReplyDeletelove them all, especially the first kitchen and the gorgeous bathroom, love the bathroom, how cool!?!
ReplyDeleteEspecially ladders by the bookshelves....They always look so magical...I wish I would have one:)
ReplyDeleteKisses sweetie and enjoy your Monday:)
what a fab post - love thes images! especially the kitchen ones.

Oh my gosh, so pretty. I just love this post. I had no idea how much I needed a library ladder in my life until now! And now, I don't know how I imagined my life without one.
ReplyDeleteThey so add so much character to a room and the wheels are great! One of my friends used to live in an old white plantation kind of house and in the back of the house was a large living room - complete with red carpet and red velvet drapes hanging at it's many windows - there was an entire wall of bookshelves - packed full - and the rolling library ladder. It was beautiful - red and all! when they moved they left the books and I have a feeling that is what previous owners did. I'd love to see what treasures were on those shelves!
ReplyDeleteOh, my husbands dream is to have a library with a ladder! I would love a walk in closet with such wonderful storage that I would have a ladder to get to my collection of handbags!
ReplyDeleteso very very beautiful!

justyna
it really does! i love it :)
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful design element in a room. It adds a suggestion of introspection to the area, with its connection to libraries and books.
ReplyDeletei love the room with the orange throws...
ReplyDeleteOk quick question Zhush, where can i get Yellow and gray beddings? Also, i want to design my new room in yellow and gray any ideas or pictures you can point me too.
I love the look - very sophisticated! Wish I had a cool place for one!
ReplyDeleteLove these! I think that add kind of an industrial edge to any room, and some dimension. Awesome selection!
ReplyDeleteLove them as well! Wish I had some shelving that would warrant one of these....
ReplyDeleteHope you had a fabulous weekend :)
I love this post on ladders... you found a plethora of amazing images too!!!
ReplyDeleteThanks a million for your sweet comment on our anniversary... you are the best and I mean that from the bottom of my heart :)
Love you,
These images are awesome! Can I move into the living room with the green curtains please?!
ReplyDeleteI really love ladders. I tried so hard to fit one into the new kitchen, but it didn't work out.
ReplyDeleteWonderful pictures.

All I ever wanted in life was a library ladder. Now I have an ikea one in my library. Pretty cute actually. If I ever move out of the city, im gonna have a huge beauty and hte beast style library. Yup.
ReplyDeleteAlso, that last kitchen is one of my altime faves.
Great post. I love the ladders too.
ReplyDeleteI've always wanted a library ladder. Wouldn't it be fabulous to have a huge walk-in closet with a ladder to reach the top shelves? : )
ReplyDeleteI adore these! Do you know how many of my "save images" come from your blog? You really have the best taste!
ReplyDeleteYou are so right, "Can't get enough!" I've always wished for one...so thanks for letting me live it out with this post :)
ReplyDeleteLibrary ladders, mmm definitely gotta mark this idea down. I would want one like the first.
ReplyDeleteCan't get enough LIBRARIES!!!! Love 'em.
ReplyDeleteI have always wanted one of these ladders in my home though I am deathly afraid of heights. At my first design job I worked in the library and had to climb one of these ladders 12+ feet in the air to put away vendor binders. HORRIFYING. I cursed those high ceilings every day. Still love the ladder look though...
ReplyDeletexx Katie
Yes! Would love this in a future home of mine ... :) Happy Monday!
ReplyDeleteGreat images. I just want a library now, I'll add a ladder later.
ReplyDeleteI LOVE a library ladder...and fingers crossed...I THINK I might be getting one in my new closet! You have no idea how excited this makes me for a multitude of reasons, not the least of which is my height disadvantage, and the idea of using it as a prop to act out musicals in the privacy of my own closet!
ReplyDeleteSue, aren't they a great touch and addition to any room!! Great images.

You are so right! These all make the rooms look so fab!
ReplyDeleteLove the ladders too. I wish I had a bookcase that tall to have one in my house. I didnt take photos of the key chains but this week we will be making skirts out of pillow cases. I will be sure to take photos of those.

haha I used to BEG my mom for one of these when I was a kid. We didn't even have a library. I just thought it would be cool to have a ladder in my room lol.

Love these! I just love your home decor sense. It is fantastic. I hope one day I need a library ladder.

the kitchen with the ladders up to storage space is really neat. *tuck away for future home ideas. :)
ReplyDeleteThey add an element of coziness to rooms. I think one of those would look super cute in my apartment too. Oh yes! :)
ReplyDeleteI am SO with you, girl! A ladder will unfortunately not be moving in here any time soon (sigh). But I am trying to convince my friend Bianca (or rather her hubby!) who just moved into a large beautiful home to allocate an area in the house for tall industrial/vintage looking book shelves and a ladder!
ReplyDeleteI will send her your post!
ox, Mon
Love these images....have always wanted to incorporate one into my kitchen.....but the closet idea looks great to me also!
ReplyDeleteMe either! If I build book shelves in the new house, I am getting a ladder FOR SURE!
ReplyDelete<3 Cara
PS. I have been meaning to do a post like this for a while now, again, great minds think alike!
I love the kids' rooms & bathroom closet! Oh to have a space large enough for shelves & built-in ladder!

ReplyDeleteSee how excited i was I couldn't even SPELL!!!!!HAHA Maryanne....;)
ReplyDeleteI absolutely love this look! I've always wanted a "study" with huge bookshelves lining the walls and a library ladder. Maybe some day...

Hi Darling, so nice to be back at yours and catching up -- and what a fab post to start back with -- I just love those ladders. Am working on a post of you this week, should have it for you by next Monday. In the mean time I have something for you (on Wed) over at my new site http://www/housewifebliss.com
ReplyDeleteHave a great week, Coryanne
I love libraries and the ladders! Have a great Monday, Sue! xo
ReplyDeleteooh, i love the library ladders! i think my favorite is number 4, but i also like the idea of having one of those in a kitchen!
ReplyDeletewith 3 sons I always viewed ladders as a hazzard, hehe. They do look wonderful in a library room full of wonderful books,Happy Monday,Kathysue
ReplyDeletelove them too! hope you have a great week...verbena cottage
ReplyDeleteLoving this idea in the kitchen. Maybe because I love the idea of that many dishes to need one ? Just getting back into be a active blogger ... I see I have much to catch up on ! Missed you !
ReplyDeleteXo
i love the look, but please don't make me climb them! i can barely stand on a chair to change a light bulb. ladders are even scarier to me!
ReplyDeleteThe inset bunk bed is awesome! If only my sister and I had that when we shared a bedroom...sigh.
ReplyDeleteP.S. Anna Wintour is FRIGHTENING. Plus, she's in her sixties (I think) and looks as though she's forty-five. It's creepy.
if only i had a house big enough to require such a ladder.
ReplyDeletei love it in windsor smith's kitchen best.
i love everything about her kitchen. i would never leave that fucking kitchen. i would cook in the middle of the night all nigella style..like i was doing something sinful. and then i would eat the hell out of whatever it was i cooked and smear it all over my face and then go back to bed satisfied like no man could ever......
uhhh...sorry.
sometimes good design makes me think nasty thoughts.
word.
Love them in closets! Could def take a bath/closet like the second last photo!
ReplyDeleteLove these!! I have fantasies about sailing around swinging off the ladder singing away
ReplyDelete(and yes, I watch far too many Disney movies...)
OH DEFINITELY! Whenever I see a library ladder, it ends up being one of my favorite elements in the room. So many ways to use these - I particularly like the short one on the bed in the child's room in the picture above. Darling!
ReplyDeleteI've wanted a library with a ladder for as long as I can remember. I especially want one that's on a track and rolls around. The only problem is I would need a massive book collection and to overcome my fear of heights.
ReplyDeleteI would love a ladder in a big kitchen with cabinets up to the ceiling. There is something so elegant and grown up about the ladder for me. I just love it. Fun post! Carol
ReplyDeleteOh to have a library in which to put a ladder. Floor to ceiling built ins...SWOON!
ReplyDeleteI love them too! Always reminds me of Belle in Beauty and the Beast when she's on the ladder in the library swinging across talking about her favorite kinds of books :)
ReplyDeletebunk beds in the living room? awesome!!
ReplyDeletexo Alison
awesome. my grandad had an old timey hardware store years ago with a rolling ladder that spanned the length of the store.....so cool to think about that now...
ReplyDeleteA good game of "shoots and ladders" is always fun. I always wanted a barn and a ladder to the hay loft!
ReplyDeleteGuess you can take a gal out of Kentucky, but never take the Kentucky out, a barn, ahh, now that would be a dream to have!
pve
Wish I had rooms high enough to incorporate such! They are fabulous and the kitchen with the ladder is gorgeous! Great finds!
ReplyDeleteSusan, aren't these the BEST?!
ReplyDeleteI am lucky enough to have one
in our little home library/office.
People just gravitate to that room
when they see the ladder....
And of course, everyone wants to
climb it, too! When we bought our
house, it came with all of the books
that were above the ladder. We had
to supply the books, etc. for the
shelves that you can access without
the ladder. So, I haunt book sales
and even garage sales to try and fill
up that space. I also have other
things on the shelves. GREAT post!
xx Suzanne
OK...1. I LOVE LOVE LOVE library ladders
ReplyDelete2. The room witht he green curtain, amazing!
3. That bathroom, I've seen pictures of it before and it's one of my favorite bathrooms ever!
Hoorah!!
Great idea for a post. Never noticed so many houses have them.
ReplyDeleteI LOVE library ladders! I think they lend such a pretty, old-fashioned vibe to any room. I love the second room!

Oh my goodness we are kindred spirits! I adore these!!!
ReplyDeleteGreat pics! Makes me want to try to fit one in my kitchen. : )
ReplyDeleteHealth and happiness,
Angela
I have never seen one in a bathroom/closet before! I want a shelf for each purse that I own and so many shelves that I need a ladder. I fear I would trip over the ladder though in my excitement to get to my 900 pairs of shoes :)
ReplyDeletegreat pictures, wished that was possible in my house :-P! (and the money too ofcourse)
ReplyDeletei looove ladders in rooms. I hope in my new home to be able to fix my library like this!
ReplyDeletehttp://anmarkdesign.blogspot.com/
It is my dream to have a room with bookshelves on every wall with a library ladder. Thanks for sharing all these inspirational photos!
ReplyDeleteLove that first image, it's great! Love the ladder (and the chairs and monogram pillow are lovely, too).
ReplyDeleteLove the idea of library ladders and the one in the kitchen is a fantastic idea for those high cupboards. I always think of the episode in Frasier where Niles is has quite the scene at the top of one such ladder - hilarious! Thanks so much for stopping by - I do hope you're having a great week. =)
ReplyDeleteNice inspiration! I really want that white wooden floor just like in the photo no 4 from bottom:) Love!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous, gorgeous, gorgeous! Love all of these pics, and those ladders are divine. I do have an old library ladder stashed away, but there's just one problem - no library! Ah well, one day!
ReplyDeletefirst of all, kudos to you for finding 878,397,021 pictures of a new design staple i wasn't yet aware of. second, i love how perfectly the library ladder combines both style and function — a painted one brings a delicious dose of color while one placed in a kitchen is endlessly handy for those of us measuring in at just over five feet. lurve this post.
ReplyDeleteThis is something right up my alley! I am a huge book fiend and have dreamt of having a huge library that would warrant the ladder. A girl can still dream though! Gorgeous pictures!
ReplyDeleteI've always wanted a library ladder... but unfortunately, it's not exactly practical (or a good idea) with 2 small children!
ReplyDeleteI did a post on these a while back and I still can't get enough either!
ReplyDeleteif only i had a library large enough to actually need one of these! i think i would have a ton of them if i did!
ReplyDeleteLove all of these ladder posts. Third one down and the one from Ingrid Abramovich's book are my fav.
