Every summer, I find myself daydreaming
about a beach house.
I used to think a lovely ocean side cottage,
would be the ultimate "second home" getaway....
That is, until I went on the m. elle design site and
spotted what is clearly
the chicest mountain retreat of all time!
would be the ultimate "second home" getaway....
That is, until I went on the m. elle design site and
spotted what is clearly
the chicest mountain retreat of all time!
Now, I'm thinking
I need to trade in my beach blanket for some hiking boots...
The talented mother daughter team of m. elle design,
created a rustic yet utterly sophisticated place here.
From all of the charming architectural elements
right down to the chic decorative accessories,
this beach loving girl is ready to head for the hills...
who's with me?
Wow, this is spectacular. I pick the beach over the mountains every time, but this house might convince me to change my mind...
ReplyDeleteI sure am! What a fantastic house, totally my style. And like you i'm more a beach girl but i'm putting on my hiking boots "as we speak". xx
ReplyDeleteI am SOOOOO with you, girlfriend! That is right up my alley! Love it!
ReplyDelete*love* that house!! (i'd like to pick it up and plop it on a beach, though!!)
ReplyDeleteI'm coming too!! I keep my boots in the car for work, so it will take me no time at all to be ready!
ReplyDeletewowsa that's awesome xx
I am really loving everything about this rustic house! I am thinking it would be so lovely there if it snowed too! xo
ReplyDeleteI'm in!I think I'd be happy just curled up with a good book in front of a fire. Let me know what you see along your hike! ;)
ReplyDeleteI don't even like the outdoors and woodsy areas that much but for this house I think I could love it!
ReplyDeleteTake me, take me!!!!
ReplyDeleteIt's been so hectic this week, I could just close
my eyes and BE THERE.
Actually, this would be my dream home for me and
Mr. P. once the chicks have left the nest.
And I mean, full-time, not as a second home.
Lovely in every way. I'm hopping over to their web page, now....
Thanks for the mini-vacation!
xx Suzanne
oh my honey! - that place is enchanted! .. my boyfriend's family has a house in the mountains on a like - only drawback - if u run out of milk - it's an hour ride into town :o( ... but SO many "nature" things to do - it's nice to get away and be in the middle of NO WHERE @ times!

I'm in...my boots are in the car. I can just smell that beautiful early dewy-morning air!
ReplyDeleteThe floors and ceilings in that house are exquisite!
What a wonderful job the designers have done in designing this mountain retreat. It has it all too,a library, a home office, an outdoor fireplace, and gorgeous decorating style. I would happily be snowed-in for weeks at this location and much better than a beach retreat for this fair-haired gal. Lovely post. XO
ReplyDeleteLovely! My husband and I both want a second home - I want beach, he wants mountains. We finally find one we both love, and they take it off the market ... sigh ...
ReplyDeletethat is looking awesome!
ReplyDeleteThis place is beautiful! Especially the kitchen-but I don't ever think I could trade in the waves and sand :/
ReplyDeleteThis is very inspiring and beautiful. Just love it. Wish it was mine. Hope you are well.
ReplyDeleteI'm in! There is nothing better than being surrounded by nature. Love sitting and reading outdoors, etc. and that home is fantastic! That would be a welcome retreat wouldn't it!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous design. I am a traditionalist, though, so I would go for just a bit more color in my surroundings. But this is so totally unespected. Very stylish!
ReplyDeleteIm am with you...I love long walks and it would be lovely to be able to rest after a long day of hiking in a place like that....Looks stunning:)
ReplyDeleteKisses sweetie
Totally interesting. And you know I love rustic - though it took me awhile to admit it :) I'm totally with you!!
ReplyDeleteI'm there! I'm a beach girl, too, but I LOVE everything about this sweet house!
ReplyDeletereally great pictures!

ReplyDeleteI love NC or VA...it's never hot in the summer up in them there hills...i'm right behind you! Asheville NC is beautiful in all 4 seasons and a wonderful art community. Check this out: www.riverartsdistrict.com Way cool!!
ReplyDeleteWow, I'd stay there :)
ReplyDeleteThis is gorgeous, I take it, where ever it stands...
ReplyDeleteI will always be a beach girl but this home is dreamy!! I like small doses of rustic elegance but in the mountains it is perfect.
ReplyDeleteThat house is gorgeous! I'd definitely go up to the hills over the beach for a place like that :)
ReplyDeleteI've always dreamed of a beach house as well but now you have me re-thinking that with this GORGEOUS home! I'm absolutely loving the mix of rustic and sophistication. How pretty is that kitchen?!?! It's amazing!
ReplyDeleteI love the mountains. The sea is wonderful and refreshing but there's something "mystic" about the mountains, the pure air, less noise, no sand stuck on your feet, no sun lotions (you can still sunbathe and swim if you can get a swimming pool) so..why not live like a queen for a few days? If anybody is interested I could recommend mountain resorts in Italy, Greece and Cyprus - my area of "expertise" (by the way, a friend had said I should have opened a travel agency..)
ReplyDeleteWow, I think this place could change my opinion of mountain retreats, Sue. Very chic!
ReplyDeletei want to live here!
ReplyDeleteHa! If the hills look like that then heck ya! What beach?
ReplyDeleteThis mountain house is to die for no matter where you put it! I love evrything about it and each room is better than the next. If I had the money I would buy a lake house. In a week we are headed to Skytop and I can't wait. Swimming, fishing, canoeing, hiking, bonfires, golf and tennis. It's just as great in the winter too. Rent at the beach, buy at the mountains.
ReplyDeleteI am an old fashioned girl.....mountains in the summer...beach in the winter. Nice post...K
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely house! I think I would still prefer a beach house in summer, though :-)
ReplyDeleteholla! i just fell in love with this place. i never knew i liked rustic so much-i guess because it is just a bit glammed out. very restoration hardware, but much better!
ReplyDeleteNow that's my kind of cabin!
ReplyDeletethis looks like someplace that diane keaton would live in a movie. :) I love this place... you are right- super chic!
ReplyDeleteOoooooh! I'm with you! I can't think of anything more relaxing than a weekend in a cabin filled with books :)

ReplyDeleteHubba Hubba. IN love. Not one thing in that whole house that I dont love.
ReplyDeletehaving a house in the mountains would be much more enjoyable than at the beach in my opinion, although either one would be fine with me!!
