At a recent visit to the dentist,
half heartily perusing the latest issue of Architectural Digest
I came across this beauty, and my jaw literally dropped!
This breathtaking home, in nearby Greenwich, Connecticut,
was the vision of architect Allan Greenberg
and interior designer Victoria Hagan.

This house seems like a metaphor for my own
personal style and preferences.
I adore traditional spaces and homes, but lately find myself
drawn more and more to modern, mid-century designs.
When it comes to style and taste, it seems I have
developed a split personality.
Just like this unique home.

WOW! Now that's a split personality, that doesn't need a doctor. Beautiful
ReplyDeleteI can totally relate! maybe not so much with the architecture, but more with furnishings/style. always been more traditional but I'm now loving more modern (I have Raina to thank for that!). but mixing the two....so hard for me!
ReplyDeleteok hiya mansion - can we be friends?! - all i want is an invite! .. GORGE!!!!!

What an amazing house...love it, Do they take overnight guests, LOL!!
ReplyDeleteYou're not alone. I feel the same way. I love some modern thrown in with my more traditional pieces. It definitely is a balancing act, though, as APG mentioned.
ReplyDeleteI need to get my husband to get AD in his waiting room (he's a dentist). It always seemed like a good waiting room read!
Wow, those are really opposite ends of the spectrum. I am mostly traditional, but I love a few modern accents to keep it fresh!
ReplyDeleteI love this home! It's gorgeous! I too have a split personality when it comes to interior design styles. I think if I had 10 different homes they'd all be different with the only common thread being a lack of clutter.
ReplyDeleteI am in love with all different interior design styles! I want a house for each design!
ReplyDelete<3
Wow, how looks can be deceiving! I thought it was a traditional home based upon the first picture but it is definitely not that - gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteAll of the light in this home is amazing! I can see why you were drawn to it. There is something so clean, classic and refreshing about white. It is almost as though it allows the inhabitant to paint their life however they want. Beautiful post.
ReplyDeleteHoly cow! That pool deck is insane! Can you imagine living in such a beautiful home? I love all of the white throughout. I bet they stay cool there in the summer months!!
ReplyDeleteAmazing! I have a dual personality but it's not evenly split. I'm definitely more traditional.
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful house.
ReplyDeleteThe bedroom and living room are perfection
wow, love how they've brought both styles together. fabulous place! jx
ReplyDeleteI get where you're coming from. I have decided that I need at least 3 homes to satisfy my design desires! It's a constant struggle to make a decision about the direction I want to go with my home. It's so much easier with clients!!! This was a fun house to see...makes me think I CAN have it all!
ReplyDeleteHave a great week. Sue.
I love homes with traditional/colonial looks on the outside and then are modern on the inside, so fun!
ReplyDeleteI saw this in the magazine and was blown away! The interiors really pull the opposing architecture together. Looks like you CAN have it both ways!
ReplyDeleteah, holy cow, how fun is that mish-mashing of styles and design? making for completely interesting beyond words, jaw dropping style, you're right! happy monday...
ReplyDeletePermission + proof that it's ok to mix it up! xx
ReplyDeleteBreathtaking home pretty much sums it up for me. I could live there in an instant and be perfectly at home.
ReplyDeletecheers
Susan
I think we all must have split design personalities...otherwise we'd be quite boring! I go back and forth between traditional cottage/craftsmen love, to wild neon, to equestrian...too? Who knows what's next!
ReplyDeleteHoly windows! Those are insanely cool!
ReplyDeleteI've always loved the tension of opposites. You're so good at blogging, you always find the best things:) Happy Monday
ReplyDeleteI saw this in AD too and was intrigued by it's split-ness! It's gorgeous!
ReplyDeletesplit personality is ok..harmoniously ..I would never choose rustic style if I could start from scratch but surely go for modern and just decorate with traditional objects of art, love the gray pillows. split personality but strong!M
ReplyDeleteWhat stunning views!
ReplyDeleteWow...that is one great house...Stunning !!!
ReplyDeleteGreat find sweetie and I hope your dentist visit went well:)
Kisses and have a fun day:)

ReplyDeleteHeavenly. Thanks for sharing!!
I guess I've got a split personality too - I love it! You just can't beat those huge walls of glass.. : )
ReplyDeleteWow! What a home! It almost looks like the addition shouldn't work and yet does, very well. Something about it really draws you in.
ReplyDeleteYou're right. This is jaw dropping.
ReplyDeleteme too girfriend! i am all over the place with style and design. love the traditional foundation with modern elements!
ReplyDeleteVery cool home! I always like flipping through random mags when I am at appts. :)
ReplyDeletebeautiful!!! i wish i was on one of those lounge chairs by the pool right now!
ReplyDeletemmmmmm it is beautiful house not sure I would feel at home in all that beautiful space :)
ReplyDeleteWow totally amazing! I love the two different sides this home has, they were def thinking on this one!
ReplyDeleteYou took the magazine with you - to the dentist chair. And the nurse hand to force it out of your hands. Admit it! (:
ReplyDeleteYes, jaw dropping indeed! And all that light!
Mix both styles and make it your own. I know that you are an eclectic girl at heart!

Great post and perfect images to show what you meant! I can relate but I think at times I have multiple personalities, hehe. Happy Monday Kathysue
ReplyDeleteIncredible! That outside view of the home is stunning!
ReplyDeletejoin the club! it is nice to mix things up. too traditional is usually TOO STODGY in my book!
ReplyDeleteI saw this house too and adored it! All white is so not me, but I can admire it and dream...
ReplyDeleteNathalie
I like! It's a great blend of styles, which I'm all for. Having a split personality is so much more interesting than being a slave to a single style or period.
ReplyDeleteI think that a blend of styles can be stylish and tasteful, this home is an example of that. xo
ReplyDeleteOh, hello natural light! I just love this. I don't think I'd ever leave if it were mine.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing!
Marcie
Wow, I am kind of in disbelief that someone gets to live here and I DON'T!
ReplyDeleteI think everyone has a split personality decorating disorder (SPDD?) I want all bohemian chic, or modern glam, or industrial and minimalist, white, or full of color agh!
ReplyDeleteVery interesting. I love traditional mixed with modern -- it's so fresh!
ReplyDeleteXX fallon
I just want to sit by that pool!!!
ReplyDeletep.s. I am having a bare minerals giveaway if you are interested! xo

Wow, that house looks amazing!!
ReplyDeletei saw this too! it's awesome. i think it's one of those things that could go either way, and this one worked beautifully. i love the back with all the glass windows.
ReplyDeleteWow! Very unexpected, but very cool too. I like.
ReplyDeleteI'm just the same, Sue! My tastes are a bit all over the place, it takes some talent to make it all work together! This is gorgeous, what a dream! XO !
ReplyDeleteAmazing and I love the architectual generosity!
ReplyDeleteThis is a gorgeous home!
My jaw is dropping as I write this. Who lives here??? Can they be my friend?? This is incredible!
ReplyDeletewhat a great house- I love the curved balcony overlooking the pool.
ReplyDeleteHope you had a great weekend-
Holy guacamole! They got chips! I love a split personality...so much more fun.
ReplyDeleteWow, that mansion truly is something! I love it, I'd move in straightaway :)) .....but then again, who would not? :P

I'm with you- dig the modern & traditional they have mastered. THIS IS AMAZING!! It doesn't even look real, does it??
ReplyDeletewww.aspiringkennedy.com
My problem exactly. Though our traditional on the outside - modern on the inside - pad is a little (okay A LOT!) different ;)
ReplyDeleteI want that pool.
Oh my goodness.. that house is gorgeous. I love the clean lines and simplicity of all the white. So hating my own place right now :)
ReplyDeletexo,
Lovely B.
Can you imagine calling this place home sweet home? beautiful.
ReplyDeleteKristin
I totally agree. When I picked up this issue I had some of these exact thoughts. I saw a quote somewhere recently that said something like the past rubs the present the right way. I'd say that is exactly the case here.
ReplyDeleteWow, it's beyond massive! All I can think when I see houses this big is how easy it would be to hide in it and how long they would take to clean!!! Aren't I silly!
ReplyDeleteThis home is very fresh and energizing. I love the blend of classic elements with a modern twist. Very nice feature!
ReplyDeleteFantastic feature. That house ticks all the boxes-classic and modern too
ReplyDeleteWhen you have an eye for beauty, it is hard not to have a multiple personality disorder. You appreciate great design wherever you find it -- and this home is incredibly well designed!!
ReplyDeleteIf you have split personalities, you're doing well! Apparently I have multiple personalities and they keep multiplying with every magazine issue I pick up :)
ReplyDeletewow.. yeah.. the designs are ultra modern!! i love it! :D

I really like modern mixed with traditional as well- but I'm not so sure with the architecture. I think I'd prefer to see a traditional addition and modern furnishings inside. But to each their own. Those windows sure are great!
ReplyDeleteWow!!! The bedroom is amazing, I dream of a room like that! Beautiful....
