Orange Is The New Black

The color orange, at least for me, is one of the hardest hues to work with in home decor.  There's no doubt that when done right it's incredibly chic, just look at these boldly styled images from Leigh Mowry of Olive Interiors, all beautifully photographed by Emily Jenkins Followill.  Leigh and I connected over twitter last month and I now consider myself a fan of both her work and of Emily's as well.

On an entirely separate note, I just finished binge watching the entire first season of Orange is the new Black on Netflix...if you liked Weeds, it's done by the same people...highly addictive, higly recommend.

    I agree, orange can be hard to work in, but it looks great in this image. I'm such a fan of Orange is the New Black, and watched in a big chunk too :)

    ooohh love that hot pink Juju hat!! I agree about orange. Right out of college I bought a rug that had orange in it and it was a nightmare to decorate around. Everything always looked so fallish. Its only recently that I was able to pick the right burnt orange headboard and now the room looks amazing! These photos are fab!

    OK the orange chairs and that rug are killing me. Actually just everything in that room is killing me. My husband and I also binge watched OITNB and it was SO GOOD! It took me a few episodes to really get into it, but now I am so sad it's over!!!

    She really has done it well. I have an antique Louis setee that I recovered in a burnt orange and gold pattern, that I have bumped up with brighter orange velvet pillows and fun mink pillow I bought at a vintage shop, it is a bright spot in my entry way.

    So thankful for your timing, I bought some of Lily Pulitzer orange and aqua pillows you feature to go with a navy piece, which didn't quite work, but seeing how she's used them I am realizing that they will look perfect in my daughters aqua and white bedroom.

    Hi Sue, I LOVE the series, binged it a couple of weeks ago...totally addictive... as for orange, I am over it. I LOVED it for many years then all of a sudden, gone was my passion for orange. These images however showcase orange at its very best and I especially love the play between the chair and the stunning rug in the living room... thanks!

    Orange does look so chic, when it's styled well. It seems tricky to me, but I love it. Those first three images, of the lounge, are so gorgeous! I'm craving some orange now.
