End of Summer Beach Reads

I had a crazy long list of things I wanted to accomplish this summer... I didn't get to do all them, but I did do a lot! High on this list was getting back to reading. Summer is a great time to lose yourself in a book. I like to keep things light when reading on the beach, pool or vacations. If your looking to still squeeze a little "me" time in before the cool weather really hits, here's a quick round up of what I loved this summer.

1. Primates of Park Avenue: This is the book that Bravo's Odd Mom Out was based on. Having lived on the Upper East Side of New York years ago as new mom, I got a kick out of the author's observations and actually enjoyed it more than the Bravo series.

2. In the Unlikely Event: Having grown up on Judy Blume's books, I will always be partial to this author. Of all the books I read this summer, this was probably the heaviest in terms of sadness. The plot is based on a series of plane crashes that happened in the Newark, New Jersey area in the 1950s and how it forever shaped the characters' lives.

3. Everybody Rise: During our most recent trip up to Rhode Island I literally couldn't put this book down. It's a modern day version of Edith Wharton's House of Mirth that also mostly takes place on the Upper East Side.

4. A Window Opens: I'm actually still only halfway through this one, but enjoying it enough to give it a thumbs up!

5. The Knockoff: The lightest/fluffiest book of my summer reads...a lot of funny insights into our social media obsessed world.

6. Maybe In Another Life: My friend just dropped this one off - she raved about it and thought I would love it because she knows how much I loved the movie Sliding Doors!

What have your read and couldn't put down this summer? I'd love to know!
