Progress Peeks: Our New House

Here's what's been going on around here since the last progress peek...

Our blue and white bathroom got a little summer update with these pretty monogram guest towels over these pink D.Porthault scalloped towels. A great example of how small details can pack a big punch.

Over in the kitchen, our new Jenny Prinn painting arrived. As I mentioned on Instagram, I love the art, however, I'm not sure about how it looks on this wall in the kitchen. I know I can hang this colorful piece in a few other spots - but we're going to leave it here until we find something else. I got some great suggestions on Instagram for making this work- adding a piece of furniture underneath to anchor it, framing the piece with a bold frame or adding other paintings and prints to create a gallery wall...all great ideas, but not exactly what I was hoping to do on this wall (one large statement piece of abstract art). So, for the now the hunt continues for the perfect kitchen art.

In the dining room Muse Interiors had our new charcoal gray drapery panels installed and the room looks so pulled together. The search for the last few pieces to finish this room off continues...

Finally, in the foyer, we had two pretty wall sconces installed on either side of the front door-and happily this space is now complete. And, outside we spruced up our planters for summer with some palm fronds and topiaries- the landscaping around the front door looks great...however, the rest of the landscaping, including the back yard still needs a lot of work. Hoping to get a lot done this summer!

Have you thought about purchasing a large canvas, some paints and trying a painting of your own. It's harder than most think, but you might just be stunned at the results and you'll be assured of the perfect size! Love the blog!!!

  2. I love your dining room drapes. And those planters by the front door!
The suggestion to paint your own is a good one. Nothing to lose and everything to gain!

  3. I absolutely love it all! The towels look amazing, but do you use those when you wash your hands? I always have this conundrum about pretty monogrammed and pressed linen towels - I don't want to actually use them. The kitchen art is pretty, but yes, not quite right. Perhaps an even bigger piece of abstract art? Love, love, love the dining room curtains! Also, I really adore the new sconces in the entry. I have not thought of doing that, but it is really like the perfect "jewelry" for your entry. The outside looks amazing too!

    1. I totally get your conundrum:) I keep a stack of pretty paper Caspari guest towels in a nice lucite holder next to the sink, in order to "encourage" everyone to use those instead..more sanitary too!
