Time For A Cool Change

Currently experiencing a heat wave here in New York.
While in Watermill last week, picked up the latest copy of
and was instantly soothed by the ice cool blues of this stunning
Mabley Handler designed beach house.

Refreshing...
isn't it?

  14. Ice ice baby...I had to but I sort of hate myself for it. Summer just makes me crave ice blue rooms with big windows and crisp sheets.
Also, thank you so much for your snaps on my latest project, you're the best!

  15. Wow! Seriously... you would NEVER hear me complain if that was my beach house. Or if I could at least rent it for a couple months... hey, there's a thought!
Your posts always inspire me to make fun little changes to my house decor :)

  45. I would like to be in picure #1 right now!!!

I am in a phase of loving "cool tones". When we moved into our house all of the walls were taupe and warm tones of taupe.. I'm ready to paint it all white and get some cool tones in there!!

    ReplyDelete
  46. That bathtub is large enough that I could fill it with cold water and pretend that I was at the pool. Ahh, at the pool, that's where I wish I was right now- its so darn hot out!

    ReplyDelete
  47. Makes me think of the old song "It's fresh....exciting....it's so exciting to me.....It's fresh....iniviting...." :)

  51. Too funny - I tore this article out of HC&G just last week and put it in my "perhaps someday when I have a house on the beach" file! So cool and fresh unlike this weather!

  52. Love it though I would probably have to bring in a few bold accessories (hot pink? orange? turquoise?) to keep it happy. Though I absolutely adore the bathroom with the gorgeous marble surround on the bath. I wouldn't change that one bit.

    ReplyDelete
  53. I just painted my bathroom a soft, cool grey!!

    ReplyDelete
  54. Oh please pass the chaise. And room #4. All of that room will do. I kind of want to photoshop myself right into that one!!

Wow. That's almost all I can say! This aesthetic is exactly what my husband and I are shooting for ... And he would probably die just as much as I have for the color scheme. It just goes to show you that going with shades of a certain hue CAN work in a space -- Love!

  80. Hi, thanks for another great post on our work! Yes, the mantra for this house was definitely "keep it cool." Our client didn't want any warm tones in the house! This is probably our favorite, most creative project that we have ever worked on, and that master bedroom is hands down our favorite room.

Privet and Holley, Cara, Shannon, Erica, Andrea, Heavenly Housewife, Free Bird...The chaise that you all love is the Rhinebeck Chaise from Kravet, in a Nancy Corzine fabric: Boucheron, color Ice

All things house and beautiful - That light fixture a custom Jaeger Chandelier in Agate Shell in Silver Leaf Finish made by Ironies, available to the trade through the Jerry Pair showroom in NYC.

Style Chronicle - That wallpaper is a Phillip Jeffries paper, but it is not a grasscloth...It is Amalfi Silk Wallaper in Tirreno Blue

Shannon - Those white ottomans are a favorite of our too, and they are custom Tangier Hassocks in Mother-of-Pearl Leather with Silver Nailheads from Profiles in NYC

OneCraftFox - That wood is wide-plank poplar with a V-joint, ran horizontal, with a light great paint wash applied to cool down the greenish cast of the wood, and give it a more uniform appearance.

Averill - We often punch up of designs with some bold touches of color, but in this care, our client wanted everything soft, serene, cool and blue.

Thanks again for the post, and for all of your kind feedback :)

    Best,
    -Austin & Jennifer
