Recently, my friend was complaining about all of the
As a life long resident of the Garden State, she feels
New Jersey is getting a bad rap.
She is worried that the rest of country,
(if not the world) is getting the wrong impression
of her beloved home state.
This post is for my friend...
This lovely, Short Hills, New Jersey home, was designed by
Frank DelleDonne of Summit, New Jersey.
If you love this home as much as I do...
let me know!
{fist pumping strictly optional}

Its beautiful and so classy:)
ReplyDeleteThe top armchair is so stunning and the game room so fun:)
Enjoy your day, my dear
This home has so many very beautiful and refined details. Nothing like Snookie. I feel for your friend!
ReplyDeleteI agree about the Jersy Shore mess, but I don't put all in one bucket, I love this home it's gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteLove it! and totally love jerseylicious!

GORGEOUS!
ReplyDeletei'm a JERSEY girl - and i feel the SAME way - jersey is NOT what you see on tv - leaopard, long nails, talking with accents, flipping tables - NOT US! .. it's just good for TV!
ReplyDeleteBUT jersey does have EVERYTHING - 10 million dollar houses up north and then 200K houses out west .. it's a MIX of people here and i LOVE it - i tried leaving a few times, but always came back! ..
Short Hills Mall is one of our best malls - ever been?! - i get myself into trouble in that place!
beautiful! I have the same attitude towards jersey reality shows...totally gives us jersey girls a bad rap...
ReplyDeletePS. read my post today, it has to do with my jersey shore weekend hehehe ;p
Double fist pumping here!
ReplyDelete*Fist bumping* These images are pure jersey goodness...
ReplyDeleteI live 3 minutes from the border of NJ & currently am in NJ working & I agree with your friend. I live about 15 minutes from the Real Housewives of NJ & yeah we are getting a bad rap. We aren't all these mafiaosa people. These interiors are beautiful, absolutely beautiful! I love the runner on the blue carpeted spiral stairs. Thank you dear for the lil eye-opener for people! =)
ReplyDeleteI love it! What a gorgeous home!!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous! We looked in Short Hills - as the commute would have been a little better, so we know what a beautiful area this is in.
ReplyDeleteWell done, you have let us all know Jersey is beautiful!
ReplyDeleteBon journée,
Mimmi
wow, that cieling in the dining room is something else! you never see that here in OZ.
ReplyDeleteIt is beautiful! My husband is from NJ and his family and hometown is NOTHING like the shows. He is from the Summit area and the homes and horse farms are gorgeous!!
ReplyDeleteI feel for the Jersey people! (It's like years ago when everyone assumed Long Island people speak like amy fisher and joey buttafuco) Beautiful home here ...
ReplyDeleteThings are rarely what they seem to be on TV, especially supposed "reality" TV. As a lifelong Southerner, I know people have their preconceived notions of us too so I feel your friend's pain. Love this house and am sure it is much closer to the real New Jersey!
ReplyDeletegreat post. I gotta say, I was starting to wonder...
ReplyDeleteMy family is all from Jersey and still lives there... I love Jersey!! But, it does kinda live up to the hype. :)
ReplyDeleteYou can always tell Frank's work as it is so elegant and quiet - unlike some of the Jersey's shows on TV!!
ReplyDeleteYeah baby! Love the chair in the first image!
ReplyDeleteYes, yes, yes!!
ReplyDeleteNo "bumps" in sight!
this was a great post. well timed, as I cringe everytime i see the oompha-loompa's from the J.S...... not to mention the RHONJ finale last night, where cringing happened at an alarming rate.... whoa. did you see that dinner in that huge dining room? was i the only cringer? so glad you posted this.
The Jersey I grew up in was not at all cheesy. Quite preppy actually.
ReplyDeleteI LOVE NJ
Goodness, those arches are divine!!
ReplyDeleteI just wanted to let you know I have a Polyvore Challenge on my blog – - the grand prize is a $1,000 Visa Gift Certificate!! We could all use a little extra cash, right? So get over here and win it, lol :)
Great post! Beautiful house. There is nothing wrong with a little fist pumping to start the day off right!
ReplyDeleteHaha, I am totally fist pumping right now! I especially love that chair in the first picture.
ReplyDeleteThats a great side of Jersey! :)I agree that I really love that chair in the first picture! :)
ReplyDeleteWhere I live, I'm just called a Yankee! Still! It has all the connotations and generalizations as New Jersey, and I think it is as provincial as you can get. Its lazy thinking, so thanks for the reminder. We all need to stop and examine our bad habits! Thanks!
ReplyDeleteLiz
Beautiful!

I've never been to Jersey and was beginning to wonder...
ReplyDeleteThanks for setting the record straight :)
I tell you, Reality TV is all about entertainment and nothing about reality.
Yep, this house is definitely Jerseyliscious!
x
Gorgeous. I don't think anyone with a bump in her hair would live here. Go Jersey. (I feel the same about Atlanta with that horric "Real" Housewives of...). I feel your friend's pain.
ReplyDeleteOne of my best friends is from New Jersey and her home is absolutely gorgeous -- there is some beautiful colonial architecture there!

Actually I've always heard of how beautiful NJ is and so I haven't really gotten that impression. The Housewives may not show a lot of class but their homes sure are gorgeous. :)
ReplyDeleteI am totally in love with Jersey now! Actually, in high school my friend was in love with Jersey. He said it's where all the rich people are who don't want to be around the tourists in New York.
ReplyDeleteHa ha, cute post! I had stereotyped New Jersey because of what I was seeing on T.V. and I've never been there but you have given me a new perspective ; )
ReplyDeleteGorgeous photos!! Tell your friend to play up her Jersey-ness and she's probably get her own reality show - Jersey is the new trend!
ReplyDeleteXOXO

I love Jersey, I spent many a summer vacay at the Jersey shore (NOT the one that MTV shows) more like Cape May. One trip to Cape May and people would totally forget about "The Situation" - LOL! South Jersey is a different world.
ReplyDeleteVery cute!! Great way to put forth the real image of NJ...and not the ones put forth by the media! I love the wingback chair in the 1st image...I could use that in my home!
ReplyDeleteBeing a Calif gal I have not been to Jersey. I don't watch the shows but the commercials are enough to keep me away!!!I think it is sad that what they think we want to see is this kind of programming. Thank you to you and your friend for giving us a very classy view of Jersey!!! Kathysue
ReplyDeleteWow...! Love it!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful Home!
ReplyDeleteI'm not a big fan of reality shows anyway... They always portray the negative side of things.
Have visited NJ and I think it's a lovely state!
xo
It's lovely!!!
ReplyDeleteWhat a gorgeous home! That hallway with all the windows is outstanding. I love all the natural lighting.

Valerie
Am i allowed to fist pump because this home deserves some aggressive fist pumping!:-). It's gorgeous!!xo
ReplyDeleteThank you for these beautiful pictures! I filed picture 1 (wood paneling) and the picture of the billiard room (wood paneling)! I hope you don't mnd! Just gorgeous inspiration for my job!

Greet
Wow, these are beautiful images that are going into my inspiration files. I agree NJ gets a bad rap. We go to some horse races in Far Hills to entertain clients of my husbands in the fall and it is beautiful country!
ReplyDeleteGreat post! New Jersey isn't tainted by these shows. Every state has their fair share of eclectic people. I just love the fist pumping Jersey Shore!!!
ReplyDeletexo M
Fist pump firmly in the air for this house!
ReplyDeleteawesome interiors! I love Jersey :)
ReplyDeleteSo pretty! There are idiots everywhere... they could make a "jersey shore" reality show in any state... in fact, I heard they were trying to make one in Boston based on Revere beach.... (characters everywhere... tan, big hair, big muscles)! xo
ReplyDeletei'm sure jersey appreciates this!
ReplyDeleteHow beautiful:) fun to back and reading your great post
ReplyDeleteThe softer side of New Jersey! ...and let's not forget it is home to Princeton...it's not all bad! :)
ReplyDeleteBeautiful home! I've been in some lovely and elegant homes in NJ, so you won't hear me saying anything bad about the garden state :)
ReplyDeleteI can take everything with a grain of salt and I know that there will always be the random and the higher standard of representation, in any city, anywhere! Tell your friend not to worry, I have yet to fin someone that has said anything negative about Jersey :) And this house...my goodness. It could be next to a landfill and I would still be a fan! What's not to love about the herringbone floors, those beams, that staircase runner, the bathroom walls, the dining room ceiling and the amount of natural light that is beaming through that place!!!! Un-real :)
ReplyDeleteWhat a creative and support post for your friend. Who am I to judge? I live on Lawng Island! In fact, it seems every time there is a film crew anywhere on the North Shore the rumors are rampant that they are doing a Real Housewives here - and everyone goes crazy.
ReplyDeleteBest,
Colleen
Gorgeous and lovely! I love the house, reality shows and I am absolutely sure I'd love New Jersey too if I had the privilege of going there now!
ReplyDeleteThe herring bone floors, endless windows, ceiling are beautiful. And that bathroom!.. Yum.
xx C
Sue, you are so sweet to post this. Such beautiful images from New Jersey - who knew?
ReplyDeleteLOVE this. totally with you. I was born in Montclair New Jersey and spent the first few years of my life there before ending up in Oregon but i LOVE to go there i LOVE to visit my fam and I think it's beautiful
ReplyDeletepretty!! i like the NJ shows! they are funny!
ReplyDeleteIndeed lovely - and that staircase is simply beautiful. So, from Aus I can say that NJ's rep is safely intact :)
ReplyDeleteTotally captivating style. It is ironic that what the world gets to see is the 'style' of Jersey Shore not its actual breath-taking style.
ReplyDeleteI have to admit, I'm totally a sucker for all of the shows, they are all just so darn entertaining... but, I think everyone takes it with a grain of salt. I mean, I grew up in Minnesota or what most would call a "fly-over" state with people who talk like they do in Fargo, and it couldn't be farther from the truth. I have so many lovely friends from New Jersey who have impeccable style, and gorgeous homes.. just like these beautiful spaces!
ReplyDeleteThe ceiling in the dining room - ridiculously gorgeous! I've been to some gorgeous homes in NJ too (and hey people can fist pump AND have styling places right?)
ReplyDeleteGorgeous home!
ReplyDeleteI have plenty of amazing NJ friends and they are nothing like the people on these reality shows. Of course I can't help but watch though :)
It also makes me angry that they use a shot of the George Washington bridge to represent the "real" housewives of NJ. Giving NJ AND NYC a bad rep...

kelsey
Wow I'm loving the first chair! And that dining room ceiling is way cool!
ReplyDeleteNow if I were a Jersey girl it would sure piss me off too but something about the Jersey Housewife its like a car crash you can't help but look!
Its gorgeous! Jersey is not all guidos and fist pumping. In fact, when I go there, I dont know any or see any. I see cute surfery type kids with bleach blond hair and tans.
